Birchgrove
The quiet end of the peninsula.
Birchgrove is the tip of the Balmain peninsula, a small suburb of narrow streets and water on three sides. Louisa Road runs along the ridge to Yurulbin Point with harbour views both ways, and the rest of the suburb steps down through federation houses and terraces to the oval and the wharf.
It is one of the few places in the Inner West where a house can have a jetty. Buyers here are often trading up within the peninsula, and turnover is low.
