About
One office. Six suburbs. Five people.
Aldergate was set up to do a narrow thing well: sell and manage property on the Balmain peninsula and the suburbs beside it, with the same people from the first conversation to the last.
Diagrammatic location. Not a survey plan.
Our story
Started on Darling Street, and still there.
Aldergate opened in a shopfront at 312 Darling Street with two desks and a decision: to work only the suburbs we could walk to. Imogen Sallis had spent twelve years selling on the peninsula for larger agencies and wanted an office where the person who appraised a home was the person who sold it, and where property management sat at the next desk rather than in another building.
The office has grown to five people and a portfolio of managed properties across all six suburbs, and the decision has held. We don’t list outside the area, we don’t hand campaigns to assistants, and we don’t publish a figure we can’t show you the basis for.
Aldergate is a fictional agency created by M&U Ventures to demonstrate a complete real estate website. The story above, like the agents and listings, is invented. Read the disclosure.
Values
How we work.
Say what it is
A property is described by what it is and what it isn't. We don't write 'stunning' and we don't hide the railway line.
Put it in writing
Price guides, marketing costs, fees, inspection reports and offers. If it matters, it's written down and you have a copy.
Stay reachable
The agent you start with is the agent you finish with, and they answer their own phone after the sale as well as before it.
Know the street
We work six suburbs and live in them. We know which side of the road gets the afternoon sun and which school the catchment actually feeds.
Service areas
Where we work.
Six suburbs on and around the Balmain peninsula. If your property is outside them, we'll say so and suggest someone who knows the area.
Team
Five people, one standard.
Approach
What we hold ourselves to.
Six suburbs, one office
We work the peninsula and its neighbours only. Every agent lives within it.
One agent, start to finish
The person who appraises your home is the person who negotiates its sale.
Written, not implied
Price guides, marketing costs and fees are set out in writing before you sign anything.
Owned and managed together
Sales and property management share one office, one database and one standard.
Local
Part of the place, not just selling it.
Every Aldergate agent lives within the six suburbs. We sponsor the junior sailing program at Birchgrove and the Rozelle Public School fete, and we keep a noticeboard in the office window for local groups because that’s what a shopfront on Darling Street is for.
We know the ferry timetable by heart, which streets flood in a king tide, and which side of Louisa Road gets the afternoon sun. That is most of what local knowledge means, and it is what you are paying an agent for.
